The desire for a reliable non-lethal weapon as protrayed on Star Trek is...DUH of course police forces want that.

Scientology teaches that all humans are inhabited by alien souls. You have to get rid of all the souls until you are the only one left, and that can only be done after you are clear.

Of course they deny this teaching until you have gone through all the rest and paid $600,000. Then they teach you yes in fact you have to get those soul clusters removed. I might be wrong about the actual cost there, maybe you can reach OT-III with an investment of $300,000.

that's the part that actually makes sense. alot of budding actresses/actors needed all the support they could get and scientologists have alot of connections in hollywood. a 'join us and we'll get you that role you've dreamed about'-kind-of-thing.

If you want a prime example of scientology-boosting-a-career, look no further than john travolta. there's a reason he made the complete-and-total-thetrical-bomb that was 'battlefield earth'...

think, if it weren't for scientology boosting his career we might not have experienced the fine films he has been in such as 'staying alive' and 'swordfish'.

i believe arch may have it a bit off, as i understand it scientologists believe we all individually start as clams in some form.

then again, it's so ****ing insane that i'm probably wrong and they probably believe we come from clams from space ****ed by alf.

Absolutely.

There is an established science of biology which is unified by evolutionary theory just as uniquely and completely as chemistry is unified byt the atomic theory. Like evolution, Atoms are a theory.

A theory is a working model to account for the data we observe in terms of natural cause and effect. There are "laws" or rules to way matter and energy behave and a true hypothesis has to fit these laws.

Cutting to the chase (and I will provide as much detail as you like on request) there is an established tree of relationships between the families of living things and clams are an entirely different branch. Hubard's claim (which wrongly holds the shells of a clam as cognate with human jaws) shows only the dimmest awareness of evolutionary science.

If you have been told that there is still a meaningful debate between science and six-day creationsim you have been raised in a creationist foxhole. It's where I grew up too, so I understand. The fact is that creationist claims to "science" so sad that they ought to be laughable. But there is nothing funny about it in my opinion.

Contempt for science, as embodied in anti-evolutionism in nearly all its forms, serves only to reinforce the concept that religion is founded on ignorance and it turns thinking people away from what religion may have to offer.

That is my opinion after many years of study. I started out as a die hard creationist.
