Default Objects Flickering

So I recently got Serious Sam 2 (it came with a video card) and was having fun playing it when I started having problems. Many of the objects and characters in the game will randomly start flickering making it very difficult to play. I am running Vista so perhaps it is just the poor state of the nvidia Vista drivers, but I thought I would ask anyway. My system:
  • Amd Athlon 64 3500+
  • 2GB DDR 400 RAM
  • 400+ Harddrive
  • DVD-RW
  • DVD-ROM
  • Geforce 7800GTX - newest Drivers from nvidia.com
  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer - newest drivers from creative
  • Vista Business RTM

only thing i can suggest at the moment is upgrading the game to the 2.070 patch.

You might as well go back to XP and wait for better drivers...that's the only solution I can think of.

has this problem already been fixed? cuz i'm encountering the same problem using vista ultimate...
i've tried out different nvidia drivers but the flickering won't go away

The problem still exists I use Vista as my primary OS so I would know. The new drivers dont help, however I did find a shitty work around, if when it starts flickering you hit ALT+Tab to go the desktop and then hit it again and enter the game again it stops for a while. Of course this is not that great of a solution since you can get killed while doing it. It works alright in CO-OP if your friends protect you while you do it though. A patch would be really nice!

hey nova,

next time stuff starts flickering around i'll just try alt-tabbing....at least that will be faster than changing resolution whenever it starts... -.-

as i said before i tried a couple of graphic drivers but it made no difference at all. so it's possibly a direct x 10 problem

just moved over from xp to vista 64 ( had the problem with the amd duel core and game play ) , put ss2 in and thought yeah , then flikering started

hope this gets sorted soon

The current Vista drivers, both 32 and 64-bit, are version 100.65, released February 20th. There are also beta drivers available.

The flickering (not just in Serious Sam) is noted as a problem in the drivers that shipped with Vista, so I would definitely update those drivers.

There should be frequent updates, because the Vista drivers are not as capable right now as the ones for XP.

Is that so.. Well least i know what the issue is now, nothing to do with my new computer just the fact that the supplier threw in vista as my os for "free" not giving me the option to decline. So it's all Vista's fault that halfway through lvls my rendering flickers and I can't see what's around me..jerks! An here I was all back and ready to play finally since I have a halfway competent computer..but spose I can live with the "alt+tab" deal for now.. better than yeah..changing screen reso or anti-aliasing which takes a while to load.
