Default Hatshepsut

I was watching a show about Egipt in the History Channel the other day. They started talking about queen Hatshepsut and the temple they made in her honor.
When i saw the pictures of the temple i was just "Omg! That's a level from Serious Sam!". I had no idea SS was so accurate.

Heh, that is cool.

Just imagine the labor that went into constructing that in ancient Egypt. I'm always amazed at what could be built, and was, in ancient times.

Few months ago in my school, I got to a chapter named Persia in History and one fof the following chapters were Persepolis.

I thought the same as Joca64:"OMG! This is a place in Serious Sam SE!"

But yeah, Serious Sam is accurate game.

well, accurate if you ignore all the other glaring problems with accuracy like invading aliens and how one guy can fire a huge cannon no problem and shoot a minigun with absolutely no recoil.

That's really cool. I never knew that.
Do you think it's even possible that Croteam actualy went there? because there isn't alot of detail in those pictures.

I remember how me and my classmates laughed our asses off when we read about Persepolis in history. Perse = ass in Finland. Oh yeah, and I was like 10 years old then.
But yeh, it's cool that Croteam's doing relatively accurate work. At least they got the architecture and the names right.
Btw, I was watching Teh Weakest Link a few months ago and there was an interesting question: "Where's Luxor loacted?"
Ha, I knew it immediately because I remembered it from Serious Sam. Now who said computer games aren't educating?

Shit, I really really really want to visit Egypt!

Hmm, I dunno how interesting it would be...
Maybe some things would be nice, but most things would be ruins and stuff, or?

Hehehehe! I had the same reaction when I watched a documentary on TV about Egypt: the similarity sure struck me.

Pretty much both games have been researched to very extent.

Some useless knowledge:

FE:
Karnak has actually an obelisk as wells as Luxor
The giants walls in Karnak and Luxor can be seen at Temple of Isis.

If you ever visit the Gate of Tanis you'll be amazed on how simular it is. Can almost hear Sam running around and blasting.

SE:
Ziggurat is the Mesopotamians name for pyramid.
All though they didn't not use the pyramid the same way egyptians did. The ziggurat was build to reach the heaven and not for a tomb. They also had a temple on top with four giants golden horns sticking out on each side of the temple. But the general design of three or four "steps" is very close to reality.

Gilgamesh was an historical king of Uruk in ancient Babylonia

yeah, we talked about this a couple of years ago....good to read about it again though....that thread is long gone it appears....I remember somebody posting a pic of the Hatshepsut Temple showing all kinds of tourists around it...and if you looked closely, you could see a Rocketeer amongst the crowd....

I still want to go there....mostly to see if there is a rocket launcher on the roof to the right of the main building....

A rocketeer in the crowd! That sure is one hell of a good one!

Don't expect to find rockets, weapons and all: I took them 3370 or so years ago.
