Post Serious Sam II Demo Info

First, take a deep breath, it hasn't been released...yet. However, 2K Games
sends word that the demo is coming tomorrow!
Quote:
The demo is ~250 MB, and contains the complete Seriousopolis Uptown level
from the game, which can be played solo, or over LAN or online by up to four
people.

It also contains all the weapons from the game (although you may have to
cheat to see all of them), one of the game¹s vehicles and a nice variety of
the insane enemies that Sam is well known for.

As soon as the demo is released (10 AM EDT), we'll have the demo up on our half-dozen global
file mirrors via our file system.
Also, check back later today for our very own preview of Serious Sam II, as we
recently finished playing through a beta build of all 42 of the game's levels.

A Geforce 4 MX 4000 doesn't exist
However, if you do mean a Geforce 4 MX 400, then no, you won't be able to run it afaik, or maybe with only very low performance, since the Geforce 4 MX 400 is still based on a Geforce 2 and doesn't have dx8.1 support.

Edit: Oh and yes, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

the reason we use mirrors is so we dont get bogged down while downloading, because the sites we mirror from must have about 5000 servers running at 34mbps each and when one gets full, they use part of the second one, then third, so it never is full.

edit: fragman it does exist. look at this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...50439?v=glance

This is excellent news. And the first time that I've known what I was going to be doing on a day without classes scheduled in a long time.

GF4 MXs dont support DX9.0c in Hardware. they Dont have Pixel/vertex shaders 1.0 or 2.0

Hence they are DX7.0 hardware.
Supports DX9.0c drivers. as in can run with DX9.0C drivers. doesnt support or emulate pixel/vertex shaders though.

The shaders are what makes games like Half Life 2 look so realistic today, in the shiny surfaces, realistic looking bricks and water.

GF4 Ti support DX8.0 since they have Version 1.0 shaders

GF4 MXs have been dubbed 'GF 2.5' due to their naming and lack of DX8 support.

Ok then I was wrong about that and such a card exists, but it results in the same as a GF4 MX 400.

we'll have to wait for the demo readme to see if the game supports DX7 hardware (i.e running it with most features like shaders off)

Half Life 2 does, but doesnt look as nice as it would in DX8/9 and quite a few details that make the game more immersive are missing.

One game that will not run on DX7.0 Hardware is Doom 3. It has to have a DX9.0c rated DX8/9 Hardware card with full shaders support (radeon 8500+ geforce3/4 Ti+ (not MX))

I believe F.E.A.R. is also unable to run on DX7 hardware too.

again, dont panic, wait for the demos readme. After all SE and FE ran on DX5 hardware like Voodoo1s, despite it being a DX7 supporting engine.

I'll be posting more information later tonight, including a download link (so you crazy nuts can spam F5 until it shows up), some system requirements (full game system requirements coming Thursday), and some other info.
