Exclamation ! Infinite lives for COOP ! (kinda)

I didn't see this posted here so here's a little modification of the menu to get more lives. To get 999 lives, just go backward selecting the number of lives (from 3 to 2) then forward again and tada ! plenty of lives !

"Kinda" infinite because you'll get 999 lives per level, but that should be enough

Awesome!

Will people without this .gro be able to join a server that has it? I just played coop on Serious with this on 999 lives, and (only?) one person joined.

I think that it works, i just created a game serious+999 lives and some people joined. But i'm not 100% sure cuz i didn't ask how many lives they got or if they already had the file...
This would need some test but i'm pretty sure it works, because all i did was changing the max selectable value for the lives in the menu, so once this variable is set, the engine should act exactly the same, and handle live number the same way as if you selected 10 lives.
(this would need some comment from the Croteam dev...)

well I just played another game with it, someone joined and asked "how'd you get it at 999 lives?" So I guess it works with people who don't have it

Nice work, good to see other people modding

It should work online just fine. 999+ lives is a must for any Serious mode players!

There should be 5 other GRO files in the root of your Serious Sam 2 dir (default is C:\Program Files\Serious Sam 2).

I dont have any. But i did put that infinite_lives.gro in that folder, but i doesnt work. When I load SS2, network game setup, and choose lives from 3 to 2 and then back to 3 again - nothing happens.

Put the GRO file in the main SS2 folder, there should be some more GROs in there

the first step is to find the other .gro files. you can use the search files function for that.

RS: Where did you get that version Europe or US, and is it DVD or CD? Also, can you please post the Sam2.log file?

meh: Yes, if you've changed the selectable values, then it only affects the initial settings, and it is safe for network play. Btw, kudos on that "mod". Btw, when the tools come out, those files will be editable in the GUI, but in the mean time if you have some questions on the binary format, feel free to PM me.

You could run the cheats in coop too.

Maybe a stupid idea, but does your windows show you the registered file extensions?

I don't know.. test it

(Oh, you might need to rename it to z_infinite_lives.gro or so, to make sure this GRO file is loaded after Patch_2_068.gro (or w/e it's called))

Cool Bummer

This thing does not work for the latest version, probably because the Menu looks and functions differently. Where is the new one for ver2.068.62787?

Asia? Hm... Where exactly did you get this version? Looks like the Russian version, but if that's so, then you've remapped the characters when pasting into the forum. Also, we've never created a master without gro files.

You can easily do this yourself using the editor.

1. Open Content/SeriousSam2/Menus/CMSCooperativeSettings.rsc
2. Unfold Gadgets [14]
3. Unfold [4] islNumLives
4. Change Max value to your liking.
(5. Optional, change Default value if you want)
6. Save the file, and enjoy!
