Post Ars Technica Previews Serious Sam 3: BFE

The guys at Ars Technica have posted their preview of Serious Sam 3: BFE with a statement that "no modern game play" has been added to the game. Hardcore fans on our forums beg to differ. The game will sport wide-open spaces so there is a lot of room for that 16-player co-op action!

During one section of the level I played, I was instructed to hide inside the remains of a building. The results? The charging bull-like enemies simply ran through the walls, sending destruction in their wake, before slamming me a few hundred feet in the air. There is no hiding in Serious Sam 3, and cover is useless. There is only one right way to react to every situation, and that's to kill everything you see.
No cover really means that you can run, and you can hide, but Mental will always find you. Read more at Ars Technica.

So using cover is meaningless? HAH! Take that, modern 'realistic' shooters! I bet gnaars would climb all over the place if you decide to hide. And kleers hopping from places to places before raping you from behind.

Oooooooooh yeah, even better! And red Biomechs clearing debris too with their rockets, along with scrapjacks, and...few others. Yeah.

We really need double quotes to be working on this site.
Sigh.

In your quote of the review:

THAT sounds like fun.

Does vB even support nested quotes?

Anyway, I agree that this sounds like fun. But to be instructed to hide in a building . . . ? What happened to no cover, all man?

It will take a mean-lean PC to handle all these graphics and physics. I hope it wont influence the enemy numbers.

What ? To prove he can not hide and take cover. The enemies will crush walls to get to you

Going to see what I can do about that.

My guess would be that one of the Devolver team gave that instruction, not the game.

I hope you are right. The entire Devolver team would secretly smile while watching the player do as instructed.

I imagine that's the joke. You're instructed to go behind cover, which is instantly proven to be useless by monsters crashing through it. I can see Sam having a funny one liner to go with that.

Edit: Either that or like LD said, DD was toying with whoever was playing, since they obviously knew the werebulls would charge through the walls.

If you click the Quote button under your post you will notice that the only string of text that gets quoted is " Awesome!". My question was more about whether vB can be modded to include nested quotes automatically.

Those are the kind of tricks I pulled on my brother and father in the past. Can get pretty hilarious.

Couldn't help you, there. I suck with anything code-related.

I'm fairly sure there's an option for it somewhere in the settings.
