Default Release date shift

An official announcement about details will be released to the press later today, but we (both Devolver and Croteam) think that you guys deserve to hear it from us first:

We have been working very hard on SS3 all the way, and especially in these recent months trying to make it for the promised October 18th. In the past few days, we did some reassessments, based both on internal results, and on beta testing feedback, and determined that we would want to do some more gameplay tuning, bugfixing and optimization - more than would be possible within the given timeframe. This is the game that we have invested a lot of love and work into, and one that we know the series' fans are expecting a lot from.

So we decided it needed one extra month of development time. You will know details later in the day, but for now - one month it is - one month of extra tuning and polish that Serious Sam 3 deserves if we really love it and want it to be a great game.

Thanks for understanding,
Alen

Awww crap!
I will never make a preorder anymore.

Also, in a middle of November I will be most likely busy as hell and have absolutely no time for gaming :/

At least some of us have Battlefield 3 to help us deal with the time I suppose.

take all the time you need. rather you put out a great product instead of having people come here and complain about being "beta testers". I have rage in a week. hopefully that will keep me busy for a while.

Totally agree with jiminator here, taking time to polish a game and release a great finished product is better then rushing to meet deadlines. What's the point of releasing something early if it isn't as good as it could have been?

Well, after playing BF3, I am sure there is going to be A LOT oh unhappy customers. They're going to be looking at other games to play. It is buggy as hell and only 2 weeks for them to release it.
I sure hope every thing works out.

Fred, that build is 2 weeks after the alpha build. It was on the forums (official). The official beta testers have the newer build to play around with. So Im not too worried.

Dear Alen,
can we beg of you for some new trailer-episodes with Rich Knunckles in exchange for the 1 month delay?

Well, crap, now I need to decide whether to still take those vacation days or use them later....thought about it, I'll still take them and take a couple more in November

Just looked at the calendar and noticed November 18th is a Friday. Don't most new releases come out on Tuesdays, at least in the states? So, will it be the 18th, 15th (Tuesday of that week) or 22nd (Tuesday the following week)?

It's being released on Steam so it'll be on the day that Croteam specifies. Well thats how it has worked thus far with other indie developers apparently.

Take your time and please don't announce a release date unless you guys are absolutely sure the game has pretty much gone gold. It will be best for all of us and you won't feel like you have to rush.

Meanwhile, you could release a small, tiny, tiny public demo

I think this is a good decision, since the beta is still far from being polished imo. You guys will all like the game much much better when all the bugs have been ironed out and all the content is ready for playing at release.

Why not; a couple of levels' long demo would be awesome and shorten the wait Unearthing the Sun would be a good demo level on its own maybe...long level with lots of variety and all kinds of new stuff and epicness. Mmm. (I just played it )

Aww.
My exams are in Movember.
Btw, just joking, but is Sam "Stalking" Batman ?

First both Batman:AC and SS3:BFE were releasing on the same day, then last week B:AC was delayed till Movember, now SS3 too !

Anyways, CT and DD, take your time, release a Kickass game, most importantly, please fix any Multiplayer-Related issues if present.

If possible, PLEASE, PLEASE make a RETAIL release happen !!!

Thank You, Cheers !

Edit :

Well if they really release a small demo, I hope then that the demo level is kinda different from the final. Like set in a different time of the day, different spawns, dunno.

I'm fine with a delay, if it makes the game what we all want it to be. Nothing more frustrating than playing a buggy game, or one that feels incomplete/lacking.

That said, to keep us all interested and coming back, how about releasing the beta version exclusively here on SeriousZone, Allen

Delay is OK, a buggy game is not.

Very nice from Croteam that they personally announced this to the fans.

Haven't you heard? There are oceans on the internet.

And Croteam aren't an indie developer.

This is a bummer but I still hold firmly to my pre-order of the SE and will play a polished gem in around the middle of November.

Release the game now and then say that any bugs are actually undocumented surprise features. J/k, I fully support Croteam on this decision, I know it's for the best. Good luck fellas!

This release delay is fine with me.
I would hate to see a game with this much potential get thrown to the wolves.

Glad to see the CroTeam, the professionals they are, give an early heads up to everyone about the delay.

As I predicted though you still going to have people upset because the game isn't coming out when originally planned but these same people would likely in many cases have been some of it's harshest critics if it were released buggy at the original time screaming about when are the patches coming. Better late and right ,than on time and buggy.

I don't think any real SS fan will be disappointed in the game when it releases. It's worth the wait. It's pure SS goodness through and through and a load of fun. I'm glad to see the extra time for polishing made available.
