Post Check out these positiver reviews for Serious Sam: Double D: XXL!

Serious Sam: Double D: XXL will be released tomorrow, but reviews are already coming in!

The first review is by VentureBeat. They gave it an 82/100 and praised the gunstacking system, using corpse-piling as a way to proceed, and the drop in at any time co-op system the game has. The final paragraph is an excellent summary of what Serious Sam fans will love about the game:

Serious Sam Double D XXL is a tongue-in-cheek, delightfully violent love letter to the 2D shooters of old that manages to build upon the genre while reminding us why we enjoyed playing them in the first place. The Gunstacker system offers an impressive variety of ways to throw bits of metal around at incredible speeds, and the enemy and level designs are (mostly) as creative as you’re going to see this year. It’s not too big on plot, but you’ll probably be too busy using ridiculous guns to mow down waves of grotesque enemies to care.

Colony of Gamers gave the game a 4.5 out of 5. It seems the reviewer really liked gunstacking and enjoyed how checkpoints are never placed too far apart. His review has also revealed that you’ll be able to play as another character after being the game for the first time:

On beating it once, you even unlock a new campaign difficulty with a new character for single player. Playing as this chap gives you a whole new set of dialogue through the story.... some of it quite disturbing.

The last review is from Gaming Nexus, which gave XXL a 85./10. They were really impressed with the gunstacker system and how even getting one new weapon rechanged your tactics and strategies. Here’s a perfect summary of how awesome the Gunstack system is, straight from the article:

This ensured that every checkpoint was another chance to get lost in the possibilities of gunstack combinations. Toward the end of my first single player playthrough, I had one combination designed specifically for bosses, a second for close quarters, and a third for everything else. Should I find every upgrade –– and trust me, I want to –– I’ll have eight of these towering death dealers

Sounds like reviewers really like the game so far. Hopefully, that’ll translate into a lot of sales for Mommy’s Best Games and Devolver Digital.

This is good news, I'll have to check if it's on the Marketplace for my country, if it is it's a solid purchase.
