no, he thinks open-source is better. (I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, there)

wanting Open-source, and then programming in closed-source..
weird

Yes, I am an open-source advocate. Yes, I believe you can make a profit from open-source. And yes, I believe that open-source does result in a better product.

However, it is a lot more work for me to have this open-source than closed-source. It is a proprietary system developed for use with Seriously! and integrated into Seriously! and its forums. It would be one major pain in the ass to open-source it. For starters, there's quite a bit of code in it that is already closed-source, that I have purchased and used, but that is not open source. I wouldn't be able to open-source the SFS without rewriting everything that uses the licensed code.

Not to mention that in the past 2 years I have worked in thousands of lines of PHP code and have gotten nothing back. Profits in open-source come from support. Simply put, I don't have the tools and resources to make a dime from open-sourcing it. I do, however, have the tools to setup an online store and homepage to sell the system, once it is established enough.

If you find fault with this at all, you have some reasoning problems. If you think trying to get something back from hundreds of hours of accumulated work is selfish or against what I have said in the past regarding open-source, to put it bluntly, you're completely wrong. Not only that, but open-sourcing it would take hours and hours of time that I just don't have, and won't have, for a long time...

Just wondering if this is in the pipeline or not, if not i might see about setting up an affiliate map (and mod one day) review web site.

The other day, we passed 300,000 downloads in just over 6 months...

Quote:
Total downloads: 304366
Total files: 405
Total space used: 1.06Gb
Average filesize = 2.68Mb
Estimated Total Bandwidth Usage = 797.79Gb (rough estimate)
Wonder when we'll hit 500,000...and the big million

In the past eight months...

We've had over 400,000 downloads - 415,862 total
Over 400 files - 437 total
Over 1 GB of space used - 1.21 GB total
The average filesize is 2.84 MB

And all this combines to an estimated 1.12 TERRABYTES of bandwidth usage since the file system's creation. All without lines, all for free...

Perhaps you could explain your issue with just a bit more calm. There's no need for a post that essentially amounts to shouting. Say what you are having trouble with, with more detail as to your dilemma.

In most cases you can simply extract the contents of the zip files in your installation dir.

It isn't that hard, when I used it once it worked without problems...
I'm not that much for colour names anyway, because most of the time they get abused and everything is way too flashy and distorting.

^c followed by the color code. For example: ^cff0000 is red, ^c0000ff is blue etc.

Flashing is ^f followed by the number. 0 is the slowest, 9 is the fastest. For example ^f7 flashes pretty fast.

Don't abuse it or you'll get kicked of most servers.

Edit: Note that in the color tag the numbers are all zero.

^cff0000 <-- Always zero, not o.

As well as the name utility linked to above in Serious Spoon's post, a utility that can give you the hexidecimal value so that you know what to follow the ^c with for your name is Color Lab. Click on one of the colors, whichever you like most, and then take the value it gives (such as 33CC33 for "Medium Faded Green") and input that for your name. So, if you wanted a slowly flashing, Medium Green name, it would be:

^c33CC33^f2mike65554.

Again, the Name Editor linked to above is an excellent tool as well.

Also, as Disconnector says, do not make your name incredibly obnoxious, or many servers will likely kick you. Still have fun with it though.

Unhappy Did you Cheat?

Hi,

Very good strategy in demos of Darth Hobbit in serious difficulty.

But his ammo of the weapons were as in easy or tourist mode (minigun had maximum of 999 bullets, rockets 100....), why?

was this a cheating?

I don't think he'll get this message....you should've written him a pm or send him an email...you know, forums aren't made for talking to one other person only, but to discuss things in a whole group

Errors like that will occur when either you're using a mod that's for the wrong version (e.g. a 1.05 FE mod on a 1.0 FE installation, or an FE mod on an SE installation), or when you're using the wrong game disc (as in, the FE disc to run SE, or vice versa).

Since this thread got bumped I'll post this here:

I just submitted the public release of our Deathmatch Pro mod on the filesystem. Could you guys please be so kind to take some extra care and make sure it's up there by tomorrow? It's the biggest mod you've got so far.

Cheers.
