I had the same problem. Two things:

1. Make sure your directory to sources is as short as possible. Put in on C:/ itself, not on Desktop.

2. Compile ECC from the solution first, as it is a program that converts enities from .ec files to .h files that are later compiled by Visual Studio.

Other errors:

I moved the folder to C:\ and Built the Ecc project by right-clicking on it and then "Build".

The build was successful, but I get these errors...

And this is the Classes folder:

I remember SLAwww talking about maximum characters number... It actually might be still too long, not sure.
Try re-naming the "Serious-Engine-Master" to something shorter, like "SE1" or something like that, and see if that helps.

Also, works perfectly on vs2015.

DirectX support is disabled by default. If you need DirectX support you'll have to download DirectX8 SDK (headers & libraries) ( http://files.seriouszone.com/download.php?fileid=759 or https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=6812 ) and then enable the SE1_D3D switch for all projects in the solution (Project properties -> Configuration properties -> C/C++ -> Preprocessor -> Preprocessor definitions -> Add "SE1_D3D" for both Debug and Release builds). You will also need to make sure the DirectX8 headers and libraries are located in the following folders (make the folder structure if it's not existing yet):

/Tools.Win32/Libraries/DX8SDK/Include/..
/Tools.Win32/Libraries/DX8SDK/Lib/..
Is what the readme says, but I can't figure out how exactly to do that. I think I placed the dx8 libs in the right places, and the SE1_D3D switch, but now the build fails with many errors...

This is how I placed the dx8 files, and here's my build log:

Can I get some help with this? I can't figure it out

yeah, I did notice the errors are about this, but this header file seems to be completely unrelated to serious engine, so I thought perhaps I'm doing something wrong

ps. yeah, that worked: "Rebuild All: 20 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped", but I still find it weird that I had to edit a file outside the engine source code to get this to work

The problem is banal and is that the header winnt.h is included before windows.h
Windows.h first includes BaseTsd.h, then winnt.h
BaseTsd.h contains the definition:
Code:
#define POINTER_64 __ptr64
always happy to help

so, I decided I'll try to play trough TSE once with the compiled engine to see if I can spot any differences between 1.07 and 1.10 before I start tinkering with the code. The demos that play when you launch the game stopped after the valley of the jaguar one, on a blue screen (not of death), but I was able to get into the menu with Esc. When I started New game, saw some weird glitches during the intro, where the camera or the croteam bighead flying bus would randomly rotate upside down. Then I started playing sierra de chiapas, seemingly without problems... until I too rotated randomly into the ground

Why is SE 1.10 so buggy?

P.S. found the solution. Building the engine with VS2015 is causing this. After building it with VS2013, it works fine, so whoever wrote that we can use VS2015 in the github readme, probably didnt really test it.
